La moda sostenible como transición hacia un nuevo sistema global de vestido

Fiona Capdevila

Abstract

The current Fashion System represents all the traits that are typical to global capitalism: Acceleration, systematic speculation, programed obso-lescence, devaluation of products, promotion of artificial needs, production of stereotypes and an endemic depreciation towards the vital processes involved in fabrication.
On the meanwhile, Sustainable Fashion appears as a reactive answer to the Fashion system phenomenon, with the goal to change it. More than an ultimate solution, Sustainable Fashion can be understood as a transitio-nal phase between Fashion, a seven-hundred years old institutionalized system, and a Post-fashion emerging system based on principles that are radically opposite to those of modernity.
